Aurora Residents Arrested in Field Damage and Prostitution Cases, Brookings County Sheriff Says

Northeast Radio SD News – Brookings County, SD - The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office has announced two separate arrests this week stemming from an intentional damage investigation and an alleged prostitution incident in Aurora, according to a media release from Patrol Sergeant Manny Langstraat.
Two Aurora Men Arrested in Field Damage Case
Deputies responded at 5:08 p.m. on Sept. 26 to a report of two muddy pickups driving near a field on 215th Street and 468th Avenue — the same location where damage had been reported on Sept. 19. According to the release, a witness recorded the license plates of both vehicles, leading deputies to identify Alec Tietjen, 21, of Aurora, and Hunter Kloos, 26, of Aurora as the drivers.
During interviews, one driver admitted to driving through the field and stated both pickups caused the damage. The second driver denied driving through the field, telling deputies he only entered the area to turn around. Both men were arrested for Intentional Damage greater than $1,000, booked into the Brookings County Detention Center, and later released on personal recognizance bonds. They are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2, 2026.
Neither driver admitted involvement in the previously reported damage at the same location or other sites. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and follow up on additional leads.
Two Arrested After Argument Leads to Prostitution Investigation
Deputies were dispatched at 1:31 p.m. on Sept. 29 to the 200 block of Lovejoy Lane in Aurora for a report of a man and woman arguing in the street. The investigation determined David Capp, 71, of Aurora, had allegedly hired Vangeline Johnson, 21, of Sioux Falls, to perform sexual acts, according to the release.
After Capp attempted to end further interaction, Johnson returned to his residence to retrieve personal belongings. The argument escalated and continued into the street, where a resident witnessed the disturbance and contacted law enforcement.
Both Capp and Johnson were taken into custody and transported to the Brookings County Detention Center. They were later released on PR bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2, 2026.
