Bridge Replacement Project to Close 14th Avenue NW Starting November 10

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - A bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 10, 2025, on 14th Avenue Northwest in Watertown. The work will focus on the bridge that crosses the Big Sioux River.


To facilitate construction operations, 14th Avenue Northwest will be closed to all traffic from 7th Street West to 10th Street Northwest.


The closure is anticipated to remain in effect for approximately 8 months, through July 2026.


·  Detour Information: Motorists will be directed around the closure using a signed detour route. This route utilizes S.D. Highway 20, 10th Avenue Northwest, and U.S. Highway 81.


Project Details

The bridge replacement is a $2 million project.

·  Contractor: The prime contractor for the project is Grangaard Construction Inc., based in Watertown, SD.


·  Overall Completion: While the road is expected to reopen in July 2026, the overall project completion date is set for October 2026.
