City of Watertown Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule and Service Changes

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown has released its schedule for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, detailing facility closures and adjustments to solid waste collection services.


City administrative offices and several public facilities will observe a holiday break. On Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, the following facilities will be closed:


·         City Hall

·         Watertown Regional Landfill

·         Watertown Regional Library

·         Bramble Park Zoo

·         The Fieldhouse


The Prairie Lakes Wellness Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, but will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28.


Solid Waste Collection Adjustments: Residents with garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 27, should note that these routes will be collected on Friday, Nov. 28.

Seasonal Yard Waste Updates: The city also provided updates regarding seasonal yard waste services:


·         4th Avenue Drop-Off Site: 

This site will be open Tuesday, Nov. 25, and Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will officially close for the season at the end of the day on Wednesday.


·         Green Can Collection: 

Curbside green can collection will conclude on Dec. 11, 2025.


·         Landfill Disposal: 

Yard waste (excluding branches) is accepted year-round at the landfill free of charge for residents presenting a utility bill. Tree branches will be accepted for free with a utility bill until Dec. 13, 2025; after this date, fees will apply for branch disposal.
