Electrical Fire at Tables Steakhouse in Castlewood Prompts Evacuation, Main Street Closure

Northeast Radio SD News – Castlewood, SD - An electrical fire at Tables Steakhouse prompted a rapid emergency response and the evacuation of several patrons Friday evening, according to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.


Watertown Regional Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 7:40 p.m., reporting smoke and an electrical fire inside the downtown Castlewood restaurant. The Castlewood Fire Department and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched immediately.


Firefighters and a sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene within about five minutes of the initial dispatch. Emergency responders confirmed that everyone inside the business was able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.


A portion of Main Street was temporarily closed while crews worked to extinguish the fire and secure the building. The fire was reported under control at approximately 8:30 p.m., and responders cleared the scene shortly afterward.


Tables Steakhouse remained closed for the rest of the evening. In a public update, the business confirmed it experienced a “small electrical fire” and thanked first responders for their quick action. The restaurant said cleanup and repairs will begin immediately and that updates on reopening will be posted to its official Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/tablessteakhouse

The cause and extent of the fire have not yet been released.
