Elkton Man Arrested for Sexual Contact Without Consent

Northeast Radio SD News – Elkton, SD - An Elkton man was arrested on Wednesday night, June 3, 2026, following an investigation into a reported incident of sexual contact without consent, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 10:11 p.m. after a 63‑year‑old woman reported being touched inappropriately by a man near a garage while visiting a neighbor’s home to discuss music. The woman told deputies she asked the man to stop and then walked away before returning to her residence to report the incident.
Following the investigation, Melvin Hernandez Llamas, 37, of Elkton, was arrested on a charge of Sexual Contact Without Consent. He was booked into the Brookings County Detention Center and later transferred to another agency due to an outstanding warrant.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 6, 2026.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
