Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown Arrows delivered one of their strongest performances of the season Friday night at Watertown Stadium, sweeping Bishop O’Gorman behind a late rally in the opener and a first‑inning grand slam in the nightcap.

Game 1: Watertown 5, O’Gorman 3

Jonathan Lake came through in the clutch, breaking a 3–3 tie in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to lift Watertown to a 5–3 victory.

Lake opened the scoring early with a two‑run double in the first inning. Markus Pitkin added an RBI single in the third to push the lead to 3–0 before O’Gorman battled back, highlighted by a sixth‑inning solo home run from Isaac Tobin.

With the game knotted in the seventh, Lake delivered the go‑ahead hit, and Carter Buisker followed with an insurance RBI single. Lake finished 2‑for‑4 with three RBIs, while Buisker and Jaxon Falak each tallied two hits.

Hunter Halajian turned in a strong outing, striking out seven and allowing just three hits over six innings. Jackson McClemans earned the win in relief.

“Hunter was lights out, and he’s turning into a very quiet surprise,” head coach Ryan Neale said. “He’s going to be a diamond in the rough.”

O’Gorman starter Bennett Duncan struck out nine over five innings.

Game 2: Watertown 12, O’Gorman 2 (5 innings)

The Arrows wasted no time in the nightcap, exploding for a big first inning capped by Tripp Jorgenson’s grand slam, setting the tone for a 12–2 run‑rule victory in five innings.

“Tripp’s got unbelievable bat speed,” Neale said. “He hits the ball with a very high angle, but he got all of that one. That’s just a tone setter.”

Watertown finished with 10 hits, including two apiece from Falak, Lake, and Pitkin. McClemans earned his second win of the night, striking out six and allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings.

Tobin drove in a run for the Knights, while Alex McKinney, Paxton Sohn, and Talec Schlimgen each recorded hits. Sohn took the loss.

The sweep moves Watertown to 9–7 on the season. Neale said the strong offensive showing against O’Gorman’s top arms was a major confidence boost.

“We saw their best two arms tonight,” Neale said. “The way we stung the ball around the park—minimizing strikeouts and having good approaches with two strikes—it was a very positive night offensively.”

Watertown closes out the regular season Saturday at home against Sioux Falls Washington. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., with Game 2 to follow at 3 p.m. The doubleheader will air on Post 17 TV
