Northeast Radio SD News - Volga, SD - Lake Area Technical College continued its 60th Anniversary Tailgate Tour Friday night with a spirited stop at the Sioux Valley vs. Beresford football game. The event marked the tour’s eighth celebration, bringing together community members, students, and educators for an evening of recognition and outreach.
During the game, Hayden Homandberg, a senior at Beresford High School, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to attend Lake Area Technical College in Watertown. The scholarship was presented on the field by LATC President Tiffany Sanderson, who emphasized the college’s commitment to supporting students pursuing technical careers.
On the gridiron, Logan Mohn, a junior running back for Sioux Valley, was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. Mohn received a commemorative football from Spencer Waege, LATC Agriculture Instructor and former NFL player, in recognition of his standout performance.
“This tour is a fun way to connect with communities in our area, support student-athletes, and showcase the fast and focused education available to students interested in jumpstarting their careers,” said President Sanderson. “At Lake Area Tech, we believe education extends beyond the classroom.”
To date, Lake Area Tech has awarded $8,000 in scholarships during its anniversary tour. Each stop includes a scholarship presentation, MVP recognition, and interactive activities for fans of all ages. The tour will continue through October, with the next stop scheduled at Castlewood High School, where the Warriors will host Deubrook.
