Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - As the holiday season approaches, a long-standing collaboration between the Watertown Rotary Club and Slumberland is once again ensuring that local families have a warm place to rest.

The two organizations recently completed their annual “Homes for the Holidays” initiative, providing 25 beds and complete bedding sets to neighbors in need across the Watertown area.

The “Homes for the Holidays” program is a cornerstone of the Slumberland tradition, designed to support the less fortunate during the winter months. For the past 14 years, the Watertown Rotary Club has played a vital role in the local execution of this mission, funding the purchase of the bedding and handling the delivery of the units to local households.

To ensure the donations reach those with the greatest need, the program relies on a network of local non-profit partners. Recipients for this year’s 25 beds were identified through several community organizations, including:

·        The Salvation Army

·        Fallout Shelter Ministries

·        Coddington County Connects

·        The Shriners

The success of the initiative is driven by the volunteer efforts of local Rotarians and the staff at the Watertown Slumberland location. This year’s efforts were led by Rotarians Jen Harms, Mark Stein, David Ross, Chuck Sherman, and Gary Grewing. Representing Slumberland were Brad, Heather, Keegan Carter, and Todd Wess.

By combining the resources of a local business with the volunteer power of a civic organization, the “Homes for the Holidays” program continues to address a critical need in the community, marking nearly a decade and a half of consistent service to the Watertown area.
