Motorcycle Crash Follows High-Speed Pursuit in Codington County

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - A high-speed pursuit of an allegedly intoxicated motorcyclist ended in a serious single-vehicle crash late Wednesday evening, November 5, 2025, in Codington County. The driver, identified as Seth Fisher (24) of Watertown, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
According to the Codington County Sheriff's Office, Deputies were notified of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of 20th Avenue South and Highway 81Â at 9:44 p.m. Dispatch advised that the motorcycle driver was allegedly attempting to leave the scene of the accident and was intoxicated, reportedly driving in the oncoming lane of traffic.
Deputies responded and activated emergency lights to stop the driver. The driver continued to flee the scene at high speed. While attempting to catch up to the motorcycle, the Deputy observed, in the distance, that it had crashed at the intersection of Meadow Lake Road and 457th Avenue.
Watertown Fire Rescue (WFR) was dispatched to a motorcycle accident on a rural gravel road involving one person at 9:50 p.m.
Once on the scene of the final crash, Sheriff Deputies immediately began life-saving measures. WFR crews arrived and initiated advanced life support (ALS) care to stabilize the rider, who had life-threatening injuries. WFR Paramedics promptly loaded Fisher into the ambulance, continuing ALS treatment during transport to the Prairie Lakes Hospital Emergency Department.
Charges are currently pending as the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Assisting agencies on the scene included the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Watertown Police Department, and Watertown Fire Rescue and Ambulance.
