Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Residents of Watertown are invited to trade their detective hats for dinner napkins this February as local social service hub Codington Connects hosts its latest fundraiser, “Cafe Murder.” The interactive murder mystery dinner theater will run for three nights—February 19, 20, and 21—at the Second Street Station.

Produced and directed by local theater veteran Amber Bosworth, the show features a “sibling rivalry” plot in which an unpopular family member meets a calculated end. Audience members will not only enjoy a three-course meal. However, they will also have the opportunity to interrogate a cast of seasoned local actors—including Sara Foust’s husband—and vote on the culprit.

Connecting the Community

The event serves a dual purpose: providing high-quality local entertainment and supporting Codington Connects’ critical mission.

“Codington Connects was formed about three years ago as a collaborative of social service providers,” explained Sara Foust, Director of Codington County Community Services. “We wanted to make it easier for people to find resources and promote everything we have here in Watertown”.

Originally managed under the umbrella of county services, Codington Connects recently achieved its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The organization now includes over 45 partners and seeks to address community gaps, such as facilitating better access to the wellness center for individuals with disabilities.

A Night of Interactive Fun

Amber Bosworth, whose production and marketing company organized the event, selected the “Cafe Murder” script for its accessibility and high audience engagement.

“I saw that the audience was hungry for that interaction,” Bosworth said, noting the success of previous local improv-heavy shows like Clue. “My challenge to anyone who comes is to try to get these guys to break character. We’ve been doing hours of improv rehearsal to prepare”.

Ticket and Sponsorship Information

Early bird tickets are available for $35 until February 8, after which the price increases to $40. The ticket price includes the full three-course meal—featuring chicken, potatoes, and a charcuterie starter—and the live performance.
