Semi‑truck destroyed in fire near Pheasant Ridge Drive; no injuries reported

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue responded Friday evening to a semi‑truck fire that left both the truck and trailer a total loss near the intersection of 9th Avenue and Pheasant Ridge Drive.
According to the media release, crews were dispatched “shortly after 6:30 p.m.” for a report of a semi‑truck and trailer on fire. Firefighters arrived to find a “thick black column of smoke” and the truck fully engulfed, with flames spreading into the trailer.
Fire crews launched an aggressive attack, knocking down the fire in the truck before moving to the trailer and its contents. Watertown Fire Rescue remained on scene for just under two hours, extinguishing hot spots and completing overhaul operations.
The release states the semi‑truck, trailer, and everything inside were “determined to be a total loss due to fire, heat, smoke, and water damage.” The roadway also sustained heat damage.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Watertown Police Department, Codington County Sheriff’s Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Codington County Emergency Management, Watertown Street Department, and Performance Towing.
No injuries were reported.
