Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Sweep Nets 35 Arrests, Clears 55 Warrants in Operation Repeat Offender Project

Northeast Radio SD News – Sioux Falls, SD - Federal and local officials announced Thursday the results of a three‑day law enforcement sweep targeting fugitives, parole absconders, gang members, and violent offenders across Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.

The operation — called Operation Repeat Offender Project — was conducted the week of July 6, 2026 by a coalition of federal, state, and local agencies, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Sioux Falls Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and multiple regional partners.

During a press conference at the Sioux Falls Police Department, U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons, U.S. Marshal Dan Satterlee, and Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum detailed the results of the coordinated enforcement effort.

Operation Results

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the three‑day sweep resulted in:

·         35 arrests, including targeted individuals and associates

·         11 new felony state charges, including possession of controlled substances, weapons possession, and aggravated eluding

·         55 outstanding warrants cleared

·         8 parole absconders arrested

·         2 firearms seized

·         34 grams of methamphetamine seized

·         9.7 grams of fentanyl seized — described as nearly 5,000 lethal doses

Officials Praise Interagency Collaboration

U.S. Attorney Parsons said the operation removed dangerous offenders from the community:

“With surgical precision, this successful joint operation… has removed dangerous fugitives from our community and returned them to where they belong — behind bars.”

U.S. Marshal Satterlee emphasized the importance of partnerships:

“Partnerships between federal, state, and local agencies are the backbone to South Dakota’s law enforcement efforts.”

Homeland Security Investigations St. Paul Special Agent in Charge Michael McCarthy said the results demonstrate the strength of unified enforcement:

“By joining forces as a unified law enforcement community, we are able to deliver meaningful results and advance our shared mission of safeguarding the public.”

Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum highlighted the impact on community safety:

“When law enforcement works well together, it has a direct positive result to public safety… I am incredibly proud of our combined effort.”
