Two Airlifted After Head-On Crash on SD Highway 30 in Brookings County

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - A head-on collision between two vehicles on SD Highway 30 near 483rd Avenue resulted in four injuries on Tuesday afternoon, requiring two individuals to be airlifted to Sioux Falls.
According to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at 2:31 p.m. on June 23, 2026. The collision involved a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan and a 2013 Honda Civic. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and immediately began to render aid to the individuals inside both vehicles.
Due to the severity of the crash, Avera Careflight and Sanford Airmed were requested to the scene. The Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control, allowing both medical helicopters to land near the accident site safely. Both the driver and the passenger of the Honda Civic were airlifted to Sioux Falls with serious, unknown injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the Volkswagen Tiguan were transported to the Hendricks Minnesota Hospital for the treatment of unknown injuries.
A large multi-agency response was mobilized for the incident, which included the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, White Fire Department, White Ambulance, Brookings Ambulance, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the scene, and the vehicle accident is still under investigation.
