Vehicle Crashes into North Watertown Apartment Building Early Saturday

A vehicle incident leaves extensive damage to a house in Watertown, breaking the wall and shattering the window. Emergency response teams are on the scene to handle the aftermath.

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a report of a vehicle collision with a structure at 1425 1st Ave. NE early Saturday morning, according to a release.


The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders found that a four-door, sedan-style vehicle had impacted the north side of a two-story multifamily residence. The collision resulted in minor structural damage and intrusion into the building.


Fire crews immediately assessed the scene for potential hazards, including fuel leaks and electrical concerns, to ensure the area was safe. No serious injuries were reported from the incident. Emergency medical personnel evaluated the vehicle's occupants at the scene, and the building’s structural stability was inspected.


Fire crews remained on site for just over an hour. Their work focused on stabilizing the wall at the point of impact and weatherproofing the damaged section before turning the scene over to property management. The property management firm is now responsible for the building’s further inspection and necessary repairs.
