Volga Vehicle Vandalized Again as Brookings County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Shattered Rear Window

Northeast Radio SD News – Volga, SD - The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of intentional damage after a vehicle’s rear window was found shattered for the second time in less than a year.


Deputies were called at 4:58 p.m. on September 8 to an alley near the 300 block of Astrachan Avenue in Volga, where the owner of a 2023 Kia Telluride reported discovering the rear window broken out. The vehicle had been parked the night before and appeared normal, but the damage was discovered upon the owner’s return the next day.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, this is the same vehicle that sustained damage on September 24, 2025, when the same rear window was also broken.


Residents in the area are asked to review any surveillance footage for suspicious activity between 8 p.m. on September 7 and 4:58 p.m. on September 8, and to contact dispatch at 605‑692‑2113 if anything is found.

The incident remains under investigation.
