Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce has officially kicked off 2026 with a packed schedule of community events, ranging from competitive culinary battles to the historic 81st Winter Farm Show.
The 4th Annual Burger Battle
Kicking off on January 15, the Watertown Burger Battle returns for its fourth year. Running through February 28, the event features roughly 14 local restaurants competing for the title of “Burger Champion.” This year’s battle maintains its philanthropic roots; each participating business is paired with a local nonprofit, and a portion of every burger sale—typically $1—is donated to the organization of their choice.
Public voting will take place at WTNburgerbattle.com, where diners can rate entries on taste, appearance, and originality. Punch cards will also be available for those looking to win gift certificates to local establishments.

81st Watertown Winter Farm Show
Ag Engagement Director Mackenzie Ries highlighted the return of the Watertown Winter Farm Show, scheduled for February 11–14 at the Codington County Extension Complex. This year’s event is dedicated to the Steve Keppen and Mike Mack families for their long-standing impact on the show.
The 81st show features a 91-page schedule, including:
· Livestock Shows & Sales: Angus, Hereford, Charolais, and more.
· Family Activities: A Lego contest, a farm safety poster contest, and a petting zoo on Saturday.
· Legislative Cracker Barrel: Saturday at 8:00 AM in the sale ring.
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
Looking ahead to March, the Chamber announced the St. Patrick’s Day festivities for Saturday, March 14. The day begins with a 5K “Run for the Gold,” followed by the Little Miss and Mr. Shamrock contest and the traditional parade at noon. A highlight of the event remains the “painting of the shamrock” in the center of town, a tradition performed rain, sleet, or shine.
Hometown Holidays Wrap-Up
Finally, the Chamber is concluding its Hometown Holidays promotion. Local shoppers have until 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, to turn in their completed stamp cards. The final prize drawing will be held via Facebook Live on Thursday, January 8, at 1:00 PM.
