Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown City Council will consider approving Resolution No. 26-48 on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, for the replat of Lot 12 of the Dakota Commons Ninth Addition.

Submitted by owner and developer Dakota Commons, LLC, through acting agent Jacob Mills, the replat subdivides the existing 6.26-acre parcel along the east side of 19th Street Northeast and south of Park View Trail into two conforming C-2 Local Commercial District lots and dedicates public right-of-way for a new right-turn lane.

Commercial Lot Subdivision and Right-Turn Lane Dedication

According to an agenda memo and the survey plat prepared by Registered Land Surveyor Rodney S. DeJong of Aason Engineering Company, Inc., the replat establishes the following parcels and public right-of-way:

·         Dedicated Public Right-of-Way: Approximately 985 square feet at the southeast corner of 19th Street Northeast and Park View Trail. The dedication accommodates a right-turn lane off 19th Street Northeast onto Park View Trail that will be installed by Dakota Commons, LLC, as warranted by the development’s Traffic Impact Study.

·         Lot 12A: Approximately 81,934 square feet on the northern portion of the parcel bordering 19th Street Northeast and Park View Trail.

·         Lot 12B: Approximately 61,447 square feet on the southern portion of the parcel along 19th Street Northeast.

Under the City Street Authority’s Certificate on the plat, specific driveway access locations onto the adjoining public road right-of-way will be determined at the time building permits are issued.

Planning Commission Recommendation and Oversight

The Watertown Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the replat on a 5-0 vote during its Oct. 22, 2026 meeting. Project oversight is managed by Community Development Manager Brandi Hanten, and city staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 26-48.
