Watertown Drivers Urged to Use Caution as I-29, Highway 212 Traffic Signals Flash During Weeklong Maintenance

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The South Dakota Highway Patrol is advising drivers that the traffic signals at the intersection of Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 212 in Watertown will be placed into flashing mode for approximately one week while maintenance work is completed.

In a public notice, the agency said the signals will alternate between flashing red and flashing yellow, and reminded motorists how to respond:

· Flashing red: STOP before proceeding when safe.

· Flashing yellow: Slow down and continue through the intersection with caution.

The Highway Patrol is urging drivers to stay alert, follow standard right‑of‑way rules, and use extra caution during the maintenance period. The advisory is part of the agency’s ongoing #KeepSDSafe messaging.

No additional closures or detours are planned at this time.
