Watertown High School Graduate Christina Jongbloed Earns $2,500 P.E.O. STAR Scholarship
Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown High School graduate Christina Jongbloed, Class of 2026, has been awarded a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization that has supported women’s education for more than 157 years.
The STAR Scholarship, established in 2009, recognizes exceptional high‑school women who demonstrate excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular involvement, community service, and potential for future success. Jongbloed was nominated during her senior year and selected through the organization’s competitive national process.
A Standout High School Career
Jongbloed’s accomplishments span music, theater, dance, and student leadership. She performed in All‑State Chorus, earned a Superior Actor award at the State One Act Play Competition, received the Director’s Choice Award in band, and choreographed and performed her first solo as Scuttle in The Little Mermaid. She also choreographed her solo for her Senior Dance Recital.
Her volunteer work includes Zoo Crew, community theater, Santa Land, Winter Wonderland, “Night to Shine,” church youth group service projects, and rodeo concessions. She has also worked in several community roles, including at the outdoor pool, the ice arena, and most recently cooking at the golf course. School officials say she is widely recognized as a positive role model for younger students.
Academic Excellence and Future Plans
A member of the National Honor Society, Jongbloed graduated with a 4.0 GPA, placing her in the top 10% of her class. She earned both Presidential and Regents Scholar cords at graduation.
This fall, she begins her studies at North Dakota State University in Fargo, where she plans to pursue degrees in business and marketing. Her long‑term goal is to become a realtor and eventually own her own business.
