Watertown Mosquito Spraying Scheduled Tonight (8/11/26) Near Lake Kampeska, Derby Downs and Prairie Haven

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown says mosquito spraying will take place tonight in several neighborhoods on the east side of Lake Kampeska after population levels reached the threshold for treatment.

According to the city’s Mosquito Control Program, spraying will begin after 9:00 p.m., weather permitting, in the following areas:

·         East side of Lake Kampeska (from Kampeska Lodge to Prairie Winds Golf Club)

·         Derby Downs neighborhood

·         Prairie Haven neighborhood

The city notes that while the adulticide used in mosquito control is considered safe, residents may want to take common‑sense precautions during and shortly after spraying, as sensitivity can vary.

Recommended measures include:

1.     Remaining indoors while spraying is underway

2.     Keeping children and pets inside during spraying and for about an hour afterward

3.     Rinsing homegrown fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating or cooking

The Mosquito Control Program will continue monitoring conditions throughout the season.
