Webster Construction Leaders Celebrate Success at Major State Industry Awards in South Dakota.

Northeast Radio SD News - Webster, SD - The local construction industry has plenty to celebrate this month as two Webster-based entities took home top honors at the AGC of South Dakota’s annual awards banquet. Held in late January at The Canopy by Hilton in Sioux Falls, the event recognized the "best of the best" in the state’s construction landscape.

Webster was well-represented on the podium, with Foothills Contracting and Joel Shoemaker of Webster Scale receiving prestigious awards for their contributions to infrastructure and community development.

Foothills Contracting Wins "Build South Dakota" Award

Foothills Contracting earned a 2025 Build South Dakota Award in the Horizontal Construction category for projects exceeding $20 million. The company was recognized for its work on the SD Highway 46 Reconstruction Project in Union County.

The award is reserved for companies that demonstrate excellence in project management, innovation, and environmental sensitivity. As part of the honor, Foothills Contracting selected the Needs Anonymous Day County Food Pantry to receive a $500 donation from the AGC of South Dakota, ensuring the win benefits the local Webster community directly.

Joel Shoemaker Named "Good Citizen" of the Year

In one of the most personal highlights of the evening, Joel Shoemaker of Webster Scale was presented with the Good Citizen Award. This honor is reserved for individuals who go "above and beyond" in service to their communities.

Shoemaker was specifically cited for his vision and leadership in transforming 55 acres of raw agricultural land into a fully developed residential subdivision right here in Webster. The AGC noted that his commitment to community growth has created a lasting impact by helping meet the housing needs of our growing local population.
