18‑Year‑Old Injured in Single‑Motorcycle Crash on Highway 20

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - An 18‑year‑old Brookings man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle on Highway 20 in northwest Watertown.
According to the Watertown Police Department, an officer came upon the crash shortly after it occurred at 12:41 PM in the 1400 block of Highway 20 NW. The rider was traveling northwest when he lost control and was separated from the motorcycle.
The driver was wearing a helmet and was evaluated on scene by Watertown Fire Rescue. He was transported by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Hospital with serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries, police said.
The motorcycle, a 2009 Yamaha YZF‑R6, sustained minor damage and was privately towed from the scene.
Investigators believe speed was a factor. The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending, according to the department.
