2026 South Dakota Boys State Golf Championships Set for Aberdeen and Mitchell; Watertown Among Class AA Contenders

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The South Dakota High School Activities Association will open the 2026 Boys State Golf Championships next week, with Class A competition in Mitchell and Class AA in Aberdeen.
Class A – Mitchell (Lakeview Municipal Golf Course)
The Class A tournament begins Monday, Oct. 5 at 9:00 a.m. at Lakeview Municipal Golf Course and features 26 schools and 101 golfers.
Dakota Valley enters as the defending team champion after winning the 2025 title, followed by Vermillion and St. Thomas More. Last year’s individual champion, Hayden Heig of St. Thomas More, along with top finishers Matt DeBeer of Dakota Valley and Jack Johnson of Vermillion, has graduated.
The top teams entering this year’s tournament include Dakota Valley, Aberdeen Roncalli, Vermillion, Winner, and Tri‑Valley.
Class AA – Aberdeen (Lee Park Golf Course)
Class AA competition begins Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9:00 a.m. at Lee Park Golf Course, with 20 schools and 111 golfers.
O’Gorman returns as the defending team champion, followed by Sioux Falls Lincoln. Last year’s individual champion, O'Gorman's Tatem Mauney, has graduated. The 2025 runner‑up finish resulted in a rare four‑way tie among Braxton Hollan of Sioux Falls Lincoln, Tyson Lunn of Brookings, Charlie Swift of Harrisburg, and Jayden Antonen of O’Gorman.
Top teams entering the 2026 AA field include O’Gorman, Sioux Falls Lincoln, Harrisburg, Brandon Valley, and Watertown.
