Doeden released a public statement via video on his campaign Facebook page regarding the incident. He said he was attending the game with his family when his daughter noticed an individual acting suspiciously. Doeden stated that a woman later approached him from behind, physically engaged with him, and said, "We got Kirk, you're next."

Doeden's daughter reportedly questioned the woman, who then repeated the threat, saying, "We got Charlie Kirk. Your dad is next," before fleeing the stadium. Doeden said his daughter notified campus security, and he contacted the Aberdeen Police Department, who located and arrested the woman outside the stadium.

In his statement, Doeden emphasized that there is no place for political violence and expressed his resolve to continue his work.
