Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Codington County Auditor Brenda Hanten announced that absentee ballots have officially arrived for the 2026 South Dakota Republican Governor Runoff Election, and voting is now open at the courthouse.
Republican voters may cast their absentee ballots in person at the Codington County Auditor’s Office, located at 14 1st Avenue SE in Watertown. The office is fully staffed and prepared to assist voters throughout the absentee voting period.
The July 28 runoff will determine the Republican nominee for governor between incumbent Governor Larry Rhoden and businessman Toby Doeden. Both candidates advanced from the June 2 primary after no contender reached the 35% threshold required under South Dakota law to avoid a runoff.
Hanten encouraged residents to help spread the word, noting that ballots are ready and voting can begin immediately.
Voters with questions about eligibility, office hours, or absentee procedures may contact the Auditor’s Office at 605‑882‑6297.
Voters are encouraged to confirm all election information through official county or state sources.
