Brookings County Sheriff’s Office Investigates $6,000 Burglary at Elkton Business

Northeast Radio SD News - Elkton, SD - The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance following a series of burglaries at the Twin City Fan facility located at 210 Badger Street N.


According to Assistant Sheriff David D. Biteler, authorities were notified of the thefts on Monday morning after employees discovered tools missing from the production area.

Surveillance footage captured an unidentified individual entering the north side of the building during after-hours periods on two separate occasions:


·        Friday, Feb. 13: Between 10:50 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

·        Sunday, Feb. 22: Between 6:50 p.m. and 7:10 p.m.


The footage shows the suspect walking through the production floor and specifically targeting tool batteries and chargers. The individual was seen exiting the facility through the south side of the building following both entries.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that approximately 20 items were stolen across the two dates. The total estimated loss to the company is valued at $6,000.


Call for Public Assistance

The investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or vehicles near the facility during the late evening hours of Feb. 13 or Feb. 22 to come forward.
