Codington County Commissioners Approve June Financial Reports, Claims, and Meeting Reschedule

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Codington County Commissioners on Tuesday approved several routine financial and administrative items, including the Auditor’s Account with the County Treasurer, the Register of Deeds monthly report, a meeting reschedule due to the upcoming runoff election, county claims, and a personnel step increase.

Auditor’s Account With Treasurer Approved

Commissioners unanimously approved the Auditor’s Account with the County Treasurer, which reflects total county cash and investment balances as of June 30, 2026.

The report shows $49,149,986.04 in total assets, a figure confirmed in the agenda packet. The breakdown includes:

General Ledger Cash Balances

·         General Fund: $10,923,026.20

·         General Restricted Cash: $500,000.00

·         Special Revenue Funds: $8,373,221.44

·         County Jail Build Fund: $27,727,292.34

·         Bond Redemption Fund: $275,565.33

·         Custodial Funds: $1,350,880.73

Commissioner Myron Johnson moved to approve the report, with Commissioner Lee Gabel seconding. The motion carried unanimously.

Register of Deeds Monthly Fees Noted

The board also acknowledged the Register of Deeds June 2026 fee report, totaling $41,324.55, consistent with the official statement included in the agenda packet.

Commission Meeting Rescheduled Due to Runoff Election

Commissioners approved rescheduling the July 28 Board of Commissioners meeting to Thursday, July 30, to allow the board to canvass votes from the July 28 runoff election.

The change aligns with state election procedures requiring canvassing shortly after ballots are counted.

Commissioner Gabel made the motion, seconded by Vice Chairman Randy Schweer. The motion passed unanimously.

Claims for Payment Approved

Commissioners approved county claims totaling $660,394.07 after adjustments.

The agenda packet originally listed $2,877,932.51 in claims, but the Auditor reported several changes:

Adjustments

·         $7,761.25 in late-arriving claims added

·         TEGRA Group claim approved last week and removed from this cycle

·         State pass‑through amount of $711,483.72 deducted

After these adjustments, the actual county claims for this meeting totaled $660,394.07.

Commissioner Johnson moved to approve the claims, seconded by Schweer.

The motion passed unanimously.
