Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Codington County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday voted to formally withdraw a bid submitted by Amanda Schleich for a tax deed property auction held on July 7.

The motion to withdraw the bid was made by Commissioner Lee Gabel and seconded by Commissioner Myron Johnson. With no further discussion, the board approved the withdrawal unanimously.

New Auction Date Set: July 30

Commissioners then moved to Item #8, discussing the next steps for the tax deed property auction and the appointment of property appraisers.

It was recommended that Thursday, July 30, 2026, be the next available date that meets statutory publication requirements. The agenda also notes that the board will be rescheduling its July 28 meeting to July 30 due to the statewide primary runoff election, allowing commissioners to canvass votes that same day.

A motion to set the July 30 auction date was made by Commissioner Gabel and seconded by Vice Chairman Randy Schweer.

The motion passed without opposition.

The tax deed property referenced in the agenda is listed under the Director of Equalization’s records, including parcel details for Record #1996, located in Kampeska Township. The property consists of Lots 26–28 and portions of vacated alleys in Block 2, filed as a tax deed (TX) on December 16, 2025.
