Northeast News SD – Sioux Falls, SD - John Daly made an unexpected entry into the PGA Tour Champions record books on Friday, taking a 19 on the par-5 12th hole during the Sanford International. The score marks the highest ever recorded on a single hole in the tournament’s history.

The incident occurred at the Minnehaha Country Club. Daly's tee shot landed in the rough, followed by his next seven shots going into a water hazard. His 17th shot landed on the collar of the green, and he managed to get up and down for the 19.

This score also surpassed Daly's previous personal high of 18 on a par-5 hole at the 1998 Bay Hill Invitational. The PGA Tour Champions does not use a laser system to track shots, so the details were based on a shot-by-shot recount.

Daly's score of 19 broke the previous PGA Tour Champions record for a single hole by three shots. He finished the round with an 88.
