Downtown Watertown Welcomes "The Local," A New Dining Concept from Restaurateur Kyle Lalim

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Local restaurateur Kyle Lalim has announced the upcoming debut of The Local, a new dining experience set to open this fall in downtown Watertown. The restaurant will occupy the completely renovated space of the former Harry’s restaurant, aiming to introduce innovative flavors and a community-focused atmosphere to the city’s dining scene.

Lalim described the vision for the new venue, stating, "The vision for The Local is to create a place where every guest can discover something new. We want each visit to feel like an experience, whether you’re exploring our rotating menu, enjoying a craft cocktail, or connecting with friends over a beer.”

Focus on Flavor and Variety

The Local plans to offer a concise, carefully curated menu featuring bold, innovative flavors and dishes not typically available in the area. In addition to the main menu, the restaurant will feature a rotating specialty menu that will regularly introduce unique dishes from across the U.S. and abroad, designed to surprise and engage guests.

The beverage program will be equally robust, featuring:

·        36 tap beers, highlighting a mix of regional and national favorites.

·        Pre-prohibition cocktails with a modern interpretation.

·        A wide selection of wines by the glass and bottle.

The Rendezvous Bar Set for 2026

As part of the broader redevelopment project, the second floor of the building, formerly the Hideaway bar, will be unveiled in early 2026 as The Rendezvous Bar. This reimagined upstairs retreat is described as having a "dark and moody vibe" to create a relaxing and intimate setting.

The space will feature large windows offering views of downtown Watertown, providing an atmosphere that shifts from a naturally lit gathering space during the day to a cozy evening lounge. The Rendezvous Bar is also expected to offer alternative food options, distinct from those of the main restaurant.

No Impact on Nearby Salon

Lalim emphasized that the restaurant project does not affect Harry’s Hair Cuts & Hot Towels, which will remain open under the same name and with its current salon team. The salon has also expanded its product line and offers a 10% discount to first responders, active military personnel, veterans, and all staff and students from Lake Area Technical College (LATC) and the Watertown School District, provided they present a valid ID.

The Local is scheduled to open its doors this fall, positioning itself as a new, community-driven option for dining and entertainment in Watertown.
