Driver Identified After Bison Carcasses Spill Shuts Down I-94 Lane in West Fargo

Northeast Radio SD News – Fargo/West Fargo, ND – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the driver responsible for a large and unusual debris spill on Interstate 94 has now been identified, following a Sunday incident that shut down the only open eastbound lane in a busy construction zone.
Troopers were called at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday after 12 to 15 bison carcasses and animal remains fell from an open trailer being pulled by a semi. According to a witness, the truck braked suddenly to stop traffic between Veterans Boulevard and 45th Street, causing the load to spill across the roadway.
The debris completely blocked the eastbound lane, forcing traffic to halt multiple times while crews removed the carcasses and washed down the pavement. The Highway Patrol initially reported that the truck had not been located, but by 2:30 p.m. Monday, authorities confirmed both the driver and vehicle have been identified.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol thanked the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the West Fargo Fire Department for assisting in safely clearing the scene.
No additional details about potential charges or the driver’s identity have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
