Northeast Radio SD News – South Dakota - Governor Larry Rhoden today announced the appointment of Annie Hoffman as a circuit judge in the Second Circuit. Hoffman will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Doug Hoffman.

In a statement, Governor Rhoden praised the appointment. “Annie is an exceptional lawyer who is concise, thoughtful, and possesses deep intellect. The people of South Dakota will be well-served by her,” said Governor Rhoden. “I am confident she will instill faith in the due process and honor justice in her courtroom.”

A native of rural Lennox, South Dakota, Hoffman is a graduate of Luther College and Saint Louis University School of Law. Her career in public service began with the general counsel of the Secretary of the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C. She later returned to South Dakota to practice civil litigation and criminal defense at a law firm in Sioux Falls before becoming an Assistant United States Attorney in 2012. In that role, she handled a wide range of cases, including financial and violent crimes.

"I am humbled and deeply honored to accept Governor Rhoden’s appointment," said Annie Hoffman. "I am committed to the rule of law and will apply the law fairly and impartially. I look forward to continuing my career in public service and serving the people of South Dakota in this role.”
