Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Governor Larry Rhoden has ordered all flags across South Dakota to be flown at half-staff, effective immediately, as a mark of respect for the memory of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 84.

The former Vice President, who served under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009, died from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.

Flags will remain at half-staff until the day of Cheney's interment, the date of which is expected to be announced soon. This directive ensures that all state and local government buildings, facilities, and grounds in South Dakota honor the former Vice President's service.
