Highway 127 Project Near Sisseton Set to Begin Jan. 20

Northeast Radio SD News - Sisseton, SD - The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced the start of a multi-million dollar infrastructure project on Highway 127, scheduled to begin Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
The $7.7 million project involves replacing the existing bridge and box culvert structures over the Little Minnesota River. The upgrades are part of a continued effort to maintain a safe and efficient transportation system in the region.
Road Closures and Detour Information
To facilitate the reconstruction, a three-mile stretch of Highway 127 will be closed to all traffic. The closure extends from the junction of S.D. Highway 10 and Highway 127 to 116th Street in Sisseton.
Motorists are advised to follow the officially posted detour route, which will utilize Interstate 29. The SDDOT expects the highway closure to remain in effect until November 2026.
Project Oversight
Ludlow-based Young Gun Construction, LLC, has been awarded the contract as the prime contractor.
