Northeast Radio SD News – Bradley, SD - Motorists traveling in northeast South Dakota will encounter a long-term road closure later this month as construction begins on a section of South Dakota Highway 25.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says crews will begin grading work on Tuesday, April 21, on Highway 25, starting at South Dakota Highway 20 and extending north for approximately four miles. That stretch of roadway will be closed to all through traffic during construction.
The closure is expected to remain in place until Saturday, August 1.
During the closure, all truck traffic must detour using state highways, including Highway 20, Interstate 29, and U.S. Highway 12. Officials say truck traffic will not be permitted on 437th Avenue (Codington County Road 27) or 155th Street.
A separate detour will be provided for passenger vehicles, directing drivers to use Highway 20, 437th Avenue, and 155th Street to travel around the construction zone.
The project carries a price tag of approximately $11 million, with Midwest Contracting, LLC of Marshall, Minnesota, serving as the prime contractor. The overall project is scheduled for completion in Fall 2026.
