Injury Crash Near Bryant Sends One Driver to Hospital

Northeast Radio SD News – Bryant, SD - One person was injured early Wednesday morning after a two‑vehicle crash on SD Highway 28, about four miles east of Bryant, according to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.


The call came in at 5:52 a.m. on April 29. First responders from the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, Bryant Fire Department, Hazel Medical First Responders, and Lake Norden Ambulance arrived to find a Dodge Ram 2500 and a Nissan Kicks SV damaged in the roadway.

According to the release, “an eastbound vehicle, a Dodge Ram 2500, crossed into the westbound lane of travel after the juvenile driver reportedly fell asleep.” The Ram then struck the westbound Nissan before entering the ditch and going through a fence.


The driver of the Nissan was injured and transported to a local hospital by Lake Norden Ambulance. The juvenile driver of the Ram 2500 was cited for careless driving.


Emergency crews remained on scene for about an hour and a half while BES Towing of Lake Norden removed the vehicles. SD Highway 28 was partially closed during the response.
