Iowa Man Dies in Lincoln County Semi Crash

Northeast News SD – Lincoln County, SD - A Rock Valley, Iowa man died Thursday in a single-vehicle crash one mile southwest of Fairview.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at 1:58 p.m. at the intersection of 288th Street and 486th Avenue.


Preliminary information indicates that the 62-year-old male driver of a 1994 Peterbilt semi-truck hauling silage was traveling on 288th Street when the vehicle left the road, tipped, and rolled down a steep embankment. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries.


The name of the man has not been released pending notification of family members.


The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
