Juvenile Struck by Personal Watercraft on Lake Poinsett, Evaluated at Scene

Northeast Radio SD News – Lake Poinsett, SD - A juvenile was evaluated for injuries Saturday evening after being struck by a personal watercraft on the southwest side of Lake Poinsett, according to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.

Watertown Regional Dispatch received the 911 call at 5:02 PM, reporting that the juvenile had been hit while in the water. The Lake Norden Ambulance Service and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched and responded to the scene.

The initial caller was unable to provide the location of the watercraft operator, but deputies located the operator shortly after arriving, the sheriff’s office said.

Ambulance personnel evaluated the juvenile at the scene. No hospital transport was made.

Officers with South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks arrived and have taken over the investigation into the incident.
