Northeast Radio SD News – Kranzburg, SD - As Kranzburg, South Dakota, prepares to celebrate the nation’s 250th Independence Day this 4th of July, the Codington County Sheriff’s Office is urging attendees traveling from Watertown to use an alternate route to avoid significant traffic delays.
According to a recent public advisory, Highway 212 is expected to experience severe congestion, with vehicles backing up for miles. This traffic impacts both attendees waiting to get into Kranzburg and regular commuters traveling to other destinations.
To help holiday travelers save time, the Sheriff’s Office has mapped out an alternative path. Additionally, the County Highway Department will be grooming a short stretch of gravel on 170th Street next week to ensure the detour is ready for holiday traffic.
Recommended Alternate Route from Watertown to Kranzburg:
· Head East on 26th Ave NE.
· Proceed over the I-29 Bridge and continue East on 169th St for 2.5 miles.
· Follow the curve for 0.9 miles.
· Turn left onto 170th St and continue for 4.5 miles.
· Turn right onto Kranzburg Ave.
Parking Information
The Sheriff’s Office also reminds attendees that parking will be available on both the East and West sides of Kranzburg for the event.
Law enforcement wishes everyone a safe and fun Independence Day and encourages drivers to plan their travel routes.
