Local Teen Injured in Motorcycle Accident Near Volga

Northeast Radio SD News – Volga, SD - A 17-year-old male from Volga was hospitalized Saturday evening following a motorcycle accident on local property.


According to Assistant Sheriff David D. Biteler of the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were dispatched at approximately 8:49 p.m. on June 13, 2026, to a report of an injury accident at 21539 463rd Avenue in Volga.


The teen was riding a 1971 Kawasaki 90cc motorcycle on the property when the vehicle traveled into a ditch. The rider was separated from the motorcycle during the incident.

Incident Summary:

·         Injuries: The rider sustained an injury to his wrist and was transported to the Brookings ER for treatment of a possible broken wrist.

·         Vehicle Damage: The motorcycle sustained an estimated $200 in damage.

·         Responding Agencies: The Volga Fire Department, Brookings Ambulance, and the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene to assist.
