Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Residents looking to dive into summer fun can do so free of charge this weekend, thanks to a partnership between Midco and the City of Watertown Parks and Recreation Department.

The second annual Community Swim Night will take place this Friday, June 19, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Watertown Family Aquatic Center. Midco will provide free admission for all participants throughout the afternoon and early evening.

This is our second year sponsoring the Community Swim Night event in Watertown, and we are so excited to work with the Watertown Parks and Recreation Department to make this event happen,” said Hanna Bartels, Midco Senior Community Relations Coordinator. “We saw an incredible turnout last year, and we’re hoping even more families come out for fun, sun, and community this year.”

The event is expected to draw a massive crowd to the local pool. Watertown Recreation Superintendent Josh Maag anticipates up to 1,600 visitors on Friday, calling the swim night "by far the biggest event we host."

Guests will have full access to all of the Family Aquatic Center’s amenities. According to Maag, the facility offers something for everyone, featuring:

·         Waterslides

·         A water playground

·         A lazy river

·         A sand play area

·         A ninja cross

·         Full concessions

We want to thank Midco and all the team members that make this event possible for all the visitors and the Watertown community,” Maag added.

The free swim night is part of a broader ongoing community outreach effort by the telecommunications company.

Our mission at Midco goes beyond reliable internet and exceptional customer service,” said Jeremy Ebsen, Field Operations Manager for Midco’s Watertown system. “We want to help our communities thrive because we live here, too. We help pack meals for the Watertown People Against Child Hunger (PACH) program, and we partner each year with Watertown Parks and Recreation on park cleanup and the annual zoo day. Giving back is core to Midco’s identity in Watertown.”

That community focus will continue into the late summer. Bartels noted that the next major collaborative event, Midco Free Day at the Bramble Park Zoo, is officially scheduled for August 6.

Watertown is special to Midco!” Bartels said.
