Milbank Housing Survey Seeks Public Input on Future Development, Affordability, and Community Growth

Northeast Radio SD News – Milbank, SD - The Grant County Development Corporation (GCDC), with support from the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce, has officially launched a new housing survey aimed at shaping the future of the community. Local leaders are calling on the public to provide feedback that will guide future housing strategies, development priorities, and overall community planning.

While spearheaded by the county organization, the survey is strictly focused on the City of Milbank rather than Grant County as a whole.

According to the GCDC, the initiative will help identify both current and future housing needs across the city. The survey covers a broad spectrum of real estate and development topics, including the availability of rental housing, homeownership opportunities, overall affordability, senior living facilities, workforce housing, and the direction of future residential development.

Local officials emphasize that the state of local housing has a ripple effect throughout the local economy. “Housing affects workforce recruitment, business growth, family retention, and community planning,” the GCDC noted in its release.

To get the most accurate picture of the community’s needs, organizers are casting a wide net for participants. They are asking to hear from a diverse group of stakeholders, including:

· Current residents

· Renters and homeowners

· Local workers

· Property owners

· People who are interested in living in Milbank in the future

The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce recently took to social media to encourage participation, stating, “Whether you’re a resident, renter, homeowner, worker, property owner, or interested in living in Milbank, your input matters. Every response helps tell the story.”
