Northeast Radio SD News - Gary, SD - Gary W. Hudiburgh III, a local millwright and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization SotaSoDak, officially announced his candidacy for the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 04 for the 2026 election cycle.

Hudiburgh, a resident of Gary, South Dakota, is seeking the Republican nomination and enters the race with a diverse background rooted in skilled trades and community service.

Since 2018, Hudiburgh has worked as a millwright on regional infrastructure projects, including nuclear and fossil generation facilities, maintaining an exemplary safety record across South Dakota and neighboring states. This experience forms a core part of his campaign message.

“I understand the challenges facing working families in rural South Dakota because I face them myself every day,” said Hudiburgh. “My experience as a millwright has shown me the importance of good jobs, safe working conditions, and policies that support our local communities.”

Beyond his work in the trades, Hudiburgh is the Founder, Pastor, and Executive Director of SotaSoDak, a faith-based nonprofit. The organization currently provides technical skills training and mentorship to approximately 15 rural South Dakota youth annually, preparing them for careers in skilled trades and other technical fields.

Hudiburgh is a member of the Sutton Leadership Institute and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

The candidate's platform is built upon three pillars he deems essential to the future prosperity of rural South Dakota: Agriculture, Prosperity, and Education.

The Republican primary for District 04 is scheduled for June 2026, with the general election to follow in November 2026. Republicans Kent Roe and Dylan C. Jordan currently represent House District 04.
