Minnesota Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash Near Arlington

Northeast Radio SD News - Arlington, SD - A 62-year-old Faribault, Minnesota, man died Friday evening following a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 14, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.


The crash occurred at approximately 7:06 p.m. on Dec. 26 near mile marker 399, located on the western edge of Arlington.


Preliminary reports from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicate that the Minnesota man was driving a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris eastbound when the vehicle crossed the center line. The van entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.


The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as a 37-year-old male from Huron, sustained serious injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.


Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.


The names of the individuals involved are being withheld pending the notification of family members. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
