Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown’s Mosquito Control Program will conduct mosquito spraying on Thursday, July 9, 2026, after determining that adult mosquito counts have reached the threshold for treatment.

According to the city’s announcement, spraying will take place after 9 p.m., weather permitting, in the following area:

Northwest Watertown — North of 3rd Avenue North and West of Broadway

The city notes that while the mosquito adulticide used is considered a relatively safe material, residents in the affected area are encouraged to follow several common‑sense precautions during and shortly after spraying:

·         Remain indoors whenever spraying is taking place.

·         Keep children and pets inside during spraying and for about an hour afterward.

·         Rinse homegrown fruits and vegetables thoroughly before cooking or eating.

The Mosquito Control Program conducts spraying as needed throughout the summer based on population monitoring and environmental conditions.
