Multiple Fire Crews Respond to Grass Fire Along I-29 in Brookings County

Northeast Radio SD News – Brookings County, SD - Multiple Brookings County fire crews responded Monday afternoon to a grass fire along Interstate 29 near mile marker 145.

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was reported at 2:49 p.m. on July 20. Units from the Brookings Fire Department, Bruce Fire Department, and White Fire Department arrived to find a grass fire spreading along the east side of the interstate.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, and no property damage was reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, according to Investigations Sergeant Thomas Chester.

Agencies remind drivers to report roadside fires immediately, especially during dry summer conditions.
