Names released in single-vehicle fatal crash near Lennox, South Dakota

Northeast Radio SD News - Lennox, SD - One man was killed and another sustained life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash that occurred late Saturday night, October 4, approximately four miles north of Lennox, South Dakota.


The incident took place at 11:12 p.m. on 275th Street and 466th Avenue in Lincoln County.


According to preliminary crash information released by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety (DPS), the driver of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 21-year-old Elijah Malik Cooper of Sioux Falls, was traveling eastbound on 275th Street, just west of 466th Avenue. The Jeep reportedly crossed the center line, entered the north ditch, struck a field approach, and then rolled over.


The passenger, Tyree Anthony Wilson, a 51-year-old male from Sioux Falls, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities indicated that Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt.


Cooper, the driver, was wearing a seat belt and was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries.


The South Dakota Highway Patrol, an agency of the DPS, is investigating the crash. All information provided by the department is preliminary and subject to change.
