Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - For The Children - Glacial Lakes, a new non-profit organization, is set to launch its first-ever Royal Family KIDS Camp, a free, week-long summer camp for foster children in Northeast South Dakota. The inaugural camp is scheduled to take place in July of 2026.

The camp's mission is to provide a positive and safe environment for children who have experienced trauma. The program is designed to help campers build self-esteem and create positive memories through a variety of activities. According to the camp, all participants will receive "the royal treatment" from a team of volunteer counselors and support staff.

The camp's director, Abby Kwasniewski, stated that the initiative is motivated by a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of local children. The organization's goal is to offer a hope-filled experience for children who need it most, citing research that indicates a high percentage of children who age out of foster care face future challenges.

For The Children - Glacial Lakes is currently seeking volunteers to help with the camp. The organization is looking for mentors, activity leaders, and support staff, with a particular need for men to serve as positive role models for male campers. Adults and responsible teenagers aged 16 and 17 are encouraged to apply.

More information about the organization and how to volunteer is available on its website, www.glaciallakesftc.org.
