North Dakota Man Hospitalized After Motorcycle Crash on I-29 in Brookings County, South Dakota

Northeast Radio SD News – Brookings County, SD - A North Dakota man was hospitalized Saturday evening following a single‑vehicle motorcycle crash on Interstate 29 near mile marker 138, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.


Authorities say John Dahlsted, 55, of Emerado, North Dakota, was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide FLHX when he left the roadway around 5:54 p.m. on August 1, 2026.

“Responding units arrived on scene and rendered aid to the operator of the motorcycle, John Dahlsted, 55, of North Dakota, who had left the roadway on his motorcycle,” the media release stated.

Dahlsted was transported to Brookings Hospital with injuries described as unknown at the time of the report.


The crash occurred on Interstate 29 near mile marker 138, south of Brookings. Multiple agencies responded, including the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, Brookings Fire Department, Brookings Ambulance, White Fire Department, Brookings Police Department, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
