Parkston Man Convicted of Rape, Faces Up to 26 Years in Prison

Northeast Radio SD News – South Dakota - A Parkston, South Dakota, man, Quinn Scott Bormann, 22, has been convicted by a Yankton County Circuit Court Jury of Third Degree Rape and Taking Pictures without Consent.


South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the conviction, which was reached on Thursday, December 11, 2025.


The incident that led to the charges occurred on November 1, 2024, in Yankton County. According to Jackley, Bormann was convicted of “taking advantage of a victim who was unable to give consent.”


“I want to commend the victim for the courage in coming forward in this case,” Jackley said in a statement.


Bormann faces a severe penalty when he is sentenced next year. The Third Degree Rape conviction carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison. The Taking Pictures without Consent charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in the county jail.


Bormann's sentencing is scheduled for March 26, 2026.


The case was investigated by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
